Deaf Athletics Classification and Power of 10 Rankings
Power of 10 is the UK website for athletics results and rankings.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes can have their classification added to their Power of 10 athlete profile.
Once it has been registered, “Deaf” will appear on the athlete’s profile.
Why should I register?
Registering your classification means your eligible performances can appear in the Deaf rankings on Power of 10.
These can include performances from:
- Club competitions
- Open meetings
- League competitions
- Championships
- Sanctioned road races
You will also be able to use the classification options within the Power of 10 advanced search.
Deaf athletics classifications
UK Deaf Athletics uses two classifications:
Classification A
A hearing loss of at least 55dB Pure Tone Average in the better ear. This is measured at 500Hz, 1000Hz and 2000Hz.
This classification meets the hearing eligibility requirement for international deaf sport.
Classification B
The exact definition needs to be confirmed with UK Deaf Sport before it is published.
Who can register?
To have a classification added to Power of 10:
- Your hearing loss must have been confirmed through the appropriate audiogram process.
- You must be a member of an affiliated athletics or running club.
- Your classification must be registered by UK Deaf Sport. Athletes cannot add it themselves.
Do you need an audiogram?
An audiogram is a hearing test that records your level of hearing loss.
